Muscat: The National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) signed a memorandum of cooperation today aiming to enhance institutional partnership in exchanging statistical data and information, conducting economic studies and research, and developing national capacities in these fields. This collaboration supports the national data ecosystem and enhances the competitiveness of Oman's business environment.
According to Oman News Agency, the memorandum was signed by Dr. Khalifa Abdullah Al Barwani, CEO of the NCSI, and Faisal Abdullah Al Rowas, Chairman of the OCCI's Board of Directors, alongside HH Sayyid Dr. Adham Turki Al Said, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Economic Studies and Research Centre. The signing ceremony included several officials and specialists from both organizations.
This agreement strengthens integration among national institutions and develops mechanisms for data exchange of mutual interest. It aims to achieve optimal utilization of knowledge and statistical resources, providing accurate indicators that support strategic planning and decision-making across economic and developmental sectors.
Furthermore, the memorandum seeks to expand cooperation in exchanging statistical and economic data, organizing joint training programs, and developing national competencies in statistical and economic analysis. It also supports joint initiatives that enhance data quality, building an integrated knowledge base for anticipating economic trends and assessing policy impacts.
Dr. Khalifa Abdullah Al Barwani emphasized that the NCSI is committed to partnerships that support sustainable development and efficient planning. He highlighted that cooperation with the OCCI will expand data utilization to benefit the private sector and the national economy.
Faisal Abdullah Al Rawas noted the importance of data-driven decision-making in policy formulation and investment guidance. He stated that collaboration with the NCSI will enhance the private sector's access to reliable information, improving planning and decision-making efficiency.
HH Sayyid Dr. Adham bin Turki Al Said reiterated the significance of institutional integration in economic research and analysis. He stressed that the memorandum will enhance expertise exchange and improve the quality of economic indicators, aligning with rapid economic transformations.
