Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Film Commission Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan has officially inaugurated the second edition of the Saudi Film Forum in Riyadh. Running until October 12, the forum brings together a distinguished group of producers, artists, specialists, and filmmakers from within the Kingdom and abroad.
In his opening remarks, Prince Badr stressed the forum’s importance in enhancing creative content and developing the infrastructure of the film industry, from production to screening and distribution. He noted that these initiatives contribute to creating an integrated environment that strengthens the competitiveness of Saudi cinema both locally and internationally.
‘The film industry is an economy in itself, where opportunities are created, and stories are crafted to be remembered by future generations,’ he said. He highlighted the Film Commission’s goal of advancing a new phase that not only promotes creativity and education but also fosters an integr
ated film industry, serving as a bridge for cultural and economic exchange with the world.
Prince Badr further outlined the Kingdom’s ambition to become a regional and international hub for film production, empowering local talent and building strategic partnerships to enhance infrastructure, exhibition, and distribution sectors.
The Saudi Film Forum is the first event of its kind in the Kingdom, aimed at empowering and advancing the film industry while expanding investment opportunities and fostering partnerships. This initiative aligns with the national cultural strategy rooted in Vision 2030, which seeks to create a dynamic future for the film and arts sectors.
The forum offers an extensive cultural program featuring more than 35 events and over 65 notable speakers, including 30 dialogue sessions, 15 specialized workshops, film discussions, and masterclasses on various aspects of the film industry.
