Medellin International Poetry Festival Launches Palestine World Literature Award

Medellin: The General Union of Palestinian Writers has introduced the Palestine world literature award to offer poets worldwide a platform to articulate the struggles of Palestine and its people, support its legitimate cause, and foster hope and freedom.

According to Oman News Agency, the announcement was made at the close of the Medellin International Poetry Festival, in partnership with the World Poetry Movement. The launch event featured the Secretary-General of the General Union of Palestinian Writers, Murad Al Sudani, and the Director of the Medellin International Poetry Festival, Fernando Rendon, alongside the participation of over 64 poets from various countries.

Al Sudani remarked that the Award will include the translation of the winning piece into several languages and will also come with a financial prize. He mentioned that details regarding the Board of Trustees, participation requirements, and other specifics will be disclosed at a later stage.

Al Sudani also highlighted the significance of recognizing global poetic voices that oppose the ongoing genocide in Gaza, stating that the award serves as a tribute to these honorable humanitarian efforts.

Rendon, on his part, voiced complete support for the initiative, underscoring the Award’s role as a significant addition to the international cultural landscape in solidarity with Palestine.
