Largest Wildfire in Decades Finally Extinguished in Northern Japan

Muscat: Firefighting teams in northern Japan have extinguished the country's largest wildfire in decades after an 11-day battle, authorities said today. Hundreds of firefighters, backed by more than a thousand military personnel, had been fighting the blaze since late April. It swept through about 1,600 hectares in the mountainous Iwate region.

According to Oman News Agency, at least eight buildings were damaged and two people suffered minor injuries. Thousands of residents were also evacuated from the affected areas. The Fire and Disaster Management Agency confirmed these details, as efforts were concentrated on protecting lives and properties during the intense firefighting operation.
