Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Marks World Migratory Bird Day

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority has marked World Migratory Bird Day by engaging with its audience through social media platforms on how migratory birds, an integral part of the ecosystem, play a vital role in maintaining environmental balance.

As the second-largest royal reserve in Saudi Arabia, spanning 91,500 square kilometers, the reserve aims to serve as an ideal transit station for migratory birds. By adopting the highest standards and practices for bird protection, the reserve ensures the conservation of these species, recognizing their significant contribution to ecological balance. Thousands of migratory birds cross the reserve each year.

The authority emphasized that birds migrate for several reasons, including changes in weather, the search for food, the mating season, preserving breeds, and recovering from illness. The migration of birds also brings numerous benefits, such as dispersing plant seeds, pollinating flowers, maintaining ecological balance, and controlli
ng harmful weeds.
