HM The Sultan Participates in GCC Summit in Bahrain

Manama: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik participated in the 46th GCC Summit, held at Sakhir Palace in Manama, the Kingdom of Bahrain. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

According to Oman News Agency, the summit commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by an opening speech by King Hamad. The king emphasized the continuation of the joint Gulf action journey, which is strengthened by brotherhood and unity. He spoke about the strategic importance of the GCC as a significant force in regional and international politics.

King Hamad highlighted the importance of Gulf security, national sovereignty, and respect for the principles of good neighborliness. He stressed that the security, stability, and prosperity of the GCC states are interconnected. He also addressed regional issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, emphasizing dialogue and political solutions.

Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, noted the GCC’s ability to overcome challenges through unity and collective security. He asserted the GCC’s political and economic influence in regional and international spheres.

GCC Secretary General Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi mentioned two incidents affecting Qatar, underscoring the unity and resilience of the Gulf states. He reiterated the GCC’s firm stance on the Palestinian cause, advocating for an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders.

During the summit, a commemorative photograph was taken of the GCC Leaders and their representatives. Additionally, His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik participated in the GCC-Italian Summit, which included Giorgia Meloni, the Prime Minister of Italy. Meloni highlighted the advanced phase of cooperation between the GCC and European countries.

His Majesty was accompanied by several high-ranking officials, including HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, and Sayyid Faisal bin Harib Al Busaidi.
