Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued two Royal decrees that introduce significant changes in the Sultanate of Oman’s diplomatic and trade relations.
According to Oman News Agency, the first decree, Royal Decree No. (80/2025), involves transfers and placements within the Diplomatic Corps. As per Article (1), Ibrahim bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Muaini, who previously served as Oman’s Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Iran, has been transferred to the General Diwan of the Foreign Ministry. Article (2) of the same decree appoints Sayyid Yaarub bin Qahtan bin Nasser Al Busaidi as the new Ambassador to Iran. This decree, as stated in Article (3), is to be published in the Official Gazette and comes into effect from the date of its issue.
The second decree, Royal Decree No. (81/2025), pertains to the ratification of a protocol amending an agreement with the Russian Federation. This agreement concerns commercial, trade, and technical cooperation, which was originally signed on 22 April 2025 in Moscow. Article (1) of this decree ratifies the protocol according to the attached version, while Article (2) mandates its publication in the Official Gazette and immediate enforcement.
