HM The Sultan Establishes New Investment and Trade Court

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued Royal Decree No. (35/2025), which establishes the Investment and Trade Court and promulgates its law.

According to Oman News Agency, the newly established court will be affiliated with the Supreme Judiciary Council and will have its headquarters in the Governorate of Muscat. The decree outlines several key articles for the court’s operation and jurisdiction.

Article (1) of the decree establishes the court’s creation and its affiliation with the Supreme Judiciary Council. It also specifies that the court’s headquarters will be located in Muscat, and that the law attached to the decree will govern its operations.

Article (2) states that existing courts will continue to handle lawsuits, orders, and requests related to the jurisdiction of the Investment and Trade Court, provided they were filed before the new law takes effect.

Article (3) empowers the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council to issue decisions regulating the functions and administrative divisions of the Investment and Trade Court.

Article (4) nullifies any existing legal provisions that contradict or contravene the newly attached law.

Article (5) mandates the publication of the decree in the Official Gazette and specifies that the provisions will be enforced starting from 1 October 2025.
