HM The Sultan Enacts Three New Royal Decrees

Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has issued three Royal decrees, marking a significant legislative development in the Sultanate.

According to Oman News Agency, the first decree, Royal Decree No. 61/2025, amends a previous decree regarding the implementation of the railway line from Al Buraimi Governorate to the Wilayat of Sohar. This amendment involves replacing the existing memo and masterplan with updated versions. The decree also nullifies any conflicting provisions and mandates its publication in the Official Gazette for immediate enforcement.

The second decree, Royal Decree No. 62/2025, ratifies a bilateral agreement with the Government of Bahrain. This agreement, signed in Muscat on January 15, 2025, focuses on eliminating double taxation and preventing tax evasion concerning income tax. The decree stipulates its publication in the Official Gazette, ensuring it takes effect from the date of issue.

The third decree, Royal Decree No. 63/2025, pertains to an agreement with the Government of Iran. Signed on May 27, 2025, in Muscat, the agreement centers on the reciprocal promotion and protection of investments. Similar to the other decrees, it requires publication in the Official Gazette for immediate enforcement.
