HM The Sultan and Belarus President Witness Signing of Bilateral Agreements and MoUs

Minsk: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Alexander Lukashenko of the Republic of Belarus today attended the signing of two agreements, four memoranda of understanding (MoUs), and one memorandum of cooperation at the Independence Palace in Minsk. The ceremony was a key event during His Majesty the Sultan’s state visit to Belarus.

According to Oman News Agency, the first agreement involved the mutual waiving of visas for holders of ordinary passports between Oman and Belarus. The second agreement focused on cooperation in international road transport. The MoUs spanned diverse sectors, including the judicial field, scientific and medical research, and agriculture, livestock, and fisheries. These MoUs were signed between relevant Omani and Belarusian ministries and institutions.

A draft roadmap to enhance bilateral cooperation was also signed. Additionally, a memorandum of cooperation for a timber project was inked, marking an international investment initiative aimed at establishing a paper pulp production facility in Belarus. This project seeks to diversify Oman’s global investment portfolio and is anticipated to boost economic ties and development for both nations.

Representatives from both countries, including Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, and Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, signed the agreements for Oman. Their Belarusian counterparts included Maxim Ryzhenkov, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other senior officials. Prior to the signing, the two leaders exchanged commemorative gifts.
