His Majesty The Sultan Chairs Crucial Council of Ministers Meeting in Salalah

Salalah: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik presided over a significant meeting of the Council of Ministers at Al Maamoura Palace in Salalah, where he expressed gratitude for the prosperity, security, and stability bestowed upon Oman. His Majesty prayed for continued divine protection and success for the nation, its citizens, and residents.

According to Oman News Agency, the meeting commenced with a review of various developments, including the outcomes of the 10th Five-Year Development Plan and the objectives of the 11th Five-Year Development Plan. His Majesty praised state and private sector efforts in implementing development programs, highlighting their role in enhancing Oman’s fiscal position and economic performance. Emphasizing the need to sustain progress, His Majesty called for continuous improvement in economic and social stability, competitiveness, and the pursuit of Oman Vision 2040 goals.

The Council reviewed the preliminary results of the State’s General Budget for 2025, noting a 3.4% GDP growth driven by non-oil activities. Discussions also covered the draft State General Budget for 2026 and directives to achieve sustainable development goals while supporting economic stability within a balanced framework. His Majesty underscored the importance of the National Local Content Policy in encouraging local industries and enhancing economic growth.

The meeting also highlighted achievements in the Government Digital Transformation Programme, including the digitization of government services and AI projects that positioned Oman prominently in the AI Readiness Index. The Council stressed the need for cooperation among state units to realize the objectives of the National Programme for Digital Economy and overcome challenges in upcoming stages.

Employment initiatives were a key focus, with His Majesty directing an increase in funding for employment programs, particularly the Wage Support Initiative. The National Employment Platform “Tawteen” was also discussed, with an emphasis on its development to enhance job opportunities.

The Council evaluated government institutions’ performance and the National Platform for Suggestions, Complaints, and Reports (Tajawob), underlining the need for continued development and responsiveness to public feedback. His Majesty approved a mechanism for holding departments accountable based on performance results.

In a move to support persons with disabilities, directives were given to establish a new sector within the Ministry of Social Development to address their needs and integration. The launch of the National Initiative for the One Government Team was also endorsed to promote unified efforts among state employees.

Regional and international issues were addressed, with the Council condemning Israeli aggression against Qatar and reaffirming support for the Palestinian cause. The importance of international peace and security, along with Oman’s participation in regional and international dialogues, was emphasized.

The meeting concluded with His Majesty’s prayers for continued success and prosperity for Oman and its people.
