Head of State Audit Institution Meets with Anti-Corruption Agency Chiefs in Maldives

Muscat: Sheikh Ghosn Hilal Al Alawi, Chairman of the State Audit Institution, recently met with several heads of anti-corruption agencies from member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during the Saudi-Maldives International Forum Integrity. The forum, dedicated to the theme “Strengthening Integrity and Combating Corruption in the Tourism Sector,” was held in the Maldives on 6-7 May 2025.

According to Oman News Agency, the meetings included Adam Shamil, President of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Maldives, along with representatives from Bahrain, Jordan, Morocco, and Iraq. Sheikh Ghosn Hilal Al Alawi also had discussions with Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the OIC.

The discussions focused on the strong relations between Oman and other OIC member states, emphasizing the need to enhance cooperation in oversight, auditing, and knowledge exchange. These efforts aim to promote integrity and combat corruption across various sectors.

Al Alawi reiterated Oman’s commitment through the State Audit Institution to support international efforts in strengthening transparency and governance. This commitment includes active participation in global professional events and building strategic partnerships with peer institutions.

The meetings were in line with the objectives of the international forum, serving as a platform for experts and decision-makers to engage in dialogue on protecting vital sectors, particularly tourism, from practices that hinder sustainable development.
