Gaza: The Board of Peace of the Gaza Strip has said that rebuilding the enclave will require more than $30 billion, with about 85 percent of buildings and basic infrastructure destroyed following the Israeli genocide on Gaza and an estimated 70 million tonnes of debris needing removal.
According to Oman News Agency, in a report to the Security Council, the Board noted that the ceasefire in Gaza has held for seven months despite violations and challenges. Humanitarian aid has risen to over 70 percent since the truce began, but needs remain immense, the report said.
An International Stabilisation Force is preparing to deploy across the Strip under unified US leadership, the report announced. Separately, a Peace Board's document revealed that tens of thousands of young Gazans have applied to join the police force.
The international community has pledged $17 billion for reconstruction, the Board of Peace said, but noted a significant gap between pledges and actual disbursement of funds on the ground.
