New york: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, held a series of bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Arab and friendly countries on the sidelines of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
According to Oman News Agency, Sayyid Badr met with Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, to discuss opportunities for bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic and cultural fields. They exchanged views on regional and international developments, emphasizing the importance of international dialogue and cooperation for addressing common challenges and achieving regional and global security and peace.
The Foreign Minister also met with Dr. Shaya Mohsin Zindani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the Republic of Yemen. During this meeting, the two ministers affirmed the deep fraternal relations and historical ties between their countries, expressing support for bilateral cooperation, including the resumption of the work of their joint committee. They stressed the importance of supporting dialogue and diplomacy to achieve lasting peace in Yemen.
Moreover, Sayyid Badr engaged in discussions with Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Expatriates of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The two ministers reaffirmed their strong fraternal relations and continuous cooperation in all fields. They underscored the need for Arab and international solidarity to address the ongoing Israeli escalation threatening regional security and stability, calling for the activation of international mechanisms to enforce international law and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Sayyid Badr also met with Hadja Lahbib, European Union Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management. They highlighted the importance of upholding international law, justice, and equality on all issues, especially the Palestinian cause. They emphasized ensuring unimpeded humanitarian aid access to the Gaza Strip and affirmed a shared desire to enhance cooperation between Oman and the EU.
Furthermore, the Foreign Minister met with Yv¡n Eduardo Gil Pinto, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. They discussed exploring new partnership opportunities in energy, agriculture, mining, and investment sectors. The two ministers exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest, stressing the need for coordination in multilateral forums and fostering dialogue to support international peace and security.
Moreover, Sayyid Badr met with Touhid Hossain, Advisor for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. They signed a Memorandum of Understanding in diplomatic training and affirmed the importance of enhancing diplomatic cooperation through the exchange of expertise, visits, and joint training programs.
Further, Sayyid Badr engaged in discussions with Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, focusing on existing relations and their commitment to developing cooperation and partnerships. Both sides stressed the importance of continued coordination and consultation on various current issues to establish security, stability, and a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
The meetings were attended by officials from both sides.
