Fifth Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress Kicks off in Dammam

Under the patronage of Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Transport General Authority (TGA) Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Vice Minister of Transport and TGA President Dr. Rumaih Al-Rumaih inaugurated the fifth edition of the Saudi Maritime and Logistics Congress today in Dammam.

Al-Rumaih stressed the activation of distinctive initiatives that would boost the Kingdom’s position as a global logistics hub, capitalizing on the Kingdom’s environmental and natural resources, whether in ports, maritime shipping, or marine services. He also highlighted the importance of shipbuilding and repair, fishing, aquaculture, and maritime tourism. He noted that the real strength of the Kingdom’s industry lies not only in its infrastructure but also in its seafarers and professional workforce. Through their efforts, competence, and continuous pursuit of development, they will drive progress, seize opportunities, and shape a more sustainable and efficient future.

The opening ceremony featured the signing of a memorandum of understanding in coastal transport between the TGA and the Eastern Region Municipality. It also included the launch of the mobile monitoring room by Seal Company and the announcement of the winner of the SeaTrade Maritime Award.

During the event, the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) showcased the Port Community System (PCS), which offers more than 200 automated services through a unified digital platform designed according to the highest international standards. This system aims to unify transactions and procedures in the port sector and facilitate data exchange among public and private sector stakeholders.

The congress is one of the most significant events that bring together specialized experiences from various countries in the maritime transport and logistics sectors. The event features the participation of 60 speakers who present key insights, global experiences, and valuable perspectives that contribute to forming strategic investment partnerships and exploring new pathways for growth and development in the maritime transport and logistics sectors at the local and regional levels. These efforts align with the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics Services goals and the Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting the three continents (Asia, Africa, and Europe) and the world’s most important maritime navigation routes.

The congress program includes sessions and workshops covering key topics in the sector, such as integrated logistics services, the future supply chain, and shipbuilding and repair. There will also be panel discussions on maritime transport digitization, maritime safety, energy transition for a sustainable future, workforce development, and recommendations and proposals that will guide progress in enhancing the maritime transport industry and sustaining logistics services in line with the best standards and leading models.
