Muscat: European stock markets saw a positive start to the day’s trading session. The pan-European Stoxx 600 index opened 0.1 percent higher, reaching 553.85 points. Germany’s DAX index rose by 0.21 percent, reaching 24,037.30 points. The UK’s FTSE 100 index gained 0.23 percent, standing at 8,873.42 points. France’s CAC 40 index climbed 0.20 percent, reaching 7,819.76 points.
According to Oman News Agency, European automakers were among the top performers, with their stocks rising by 0.5 percent. In contrast, retail companies lagged, with a decline of 2.4 percent in their share prices.
