North a'sharqiyah: The Environment Authority's department in North A'Sharqiyah Governorate organized an event titled 'Institutions Forum for Controlling Risks of Chemical Substances'. The forum saw participation from specialists in chemical safety and representatives from concerned authorities.
According to Oman News Agency, the forum featured the presentation of two working papers. The first paper focused on the Environment Authority's efforts in regulating and supporting the waste recycling sector. The second paper outlined the Sultanate of Oman's initiatives in achieving sound management of chemicals. It explained that these measures were realized through the promulgation of national legislation for managing hazardous chemicals and the issuance of a safety data card for entities possessing such substances, along with mechanisms for their safe handling.
The event also included a panel discussion on major challenges and opportunities related to chemical management. At the conclusion of the forum, several recommendations were made aimed at enhancing chemical safety and institutional integration.
