Environment Authority Eradicates More Than 12,000 Invasive Birds in South Al Batinah

South al batinah: Field teams from the Environment Authority (EA) in the South Al Batinah Governorate have successfully eradicated 12,597 invasive birds over the past two months. This significant operation was carried out with the active participation of local community members, highlighting a collective effort to address environmental concerns.

According to Oman News Agency, the EA teams employed standard measures during the operation to ensure the safety of other wildlife organisms. This initiative forms the second phase of a national campaign aimed at controlling invasive bird species, specifically targeting the Myna starling and the Indian Crow.

The campaign is part of broader national efforts to protect natural resources, enhance biodiversity, and achieve sustainable development goals within the Sultanate of Oman. The Environment Authority is spearheading this effort in collaboration with various government departments and the local community, emphasizing the importance of cooperative action in environmental conservation.
