Distance Learning Activated Tomorrow in Some Governorates of Oman: Education Ministry

Muscat: The Ministry of Education has announced the switch to distance education and the activation of e-learning platforms across all public and private schools, universities, and colleges in the governorates of A'Dakhiliyah, North A'Sharqiyah, South A'Sharqiyah, and Al Wusta, as well as in the Wilayats of Al Amerat and Quriyat within Muscat Governorate. This measure will take effect tomorrow 'Wednesday' 1 April 2026, with regular in-person instruction scheduled to resume the following day, Thursday, 2 April 2026.

According to Oman News Agency, the ministry clarified in a statement issued today that this decision was made in response to a notification from the National Emergency Management Center regarding the impact of a trough associated with the "Al Furat" low-pressure system on several governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. The move underscores the ministry's commitment to ensuring the safety of all students and staff across schools and higher education institutions.

The ministry has urged students and staff to exercise the highest degree of caution, adhere strictly to all guidance and alerts issued by the competent authorities, and remain vigilant throughout the period.
