Dhofar: The Municipal Council in the Governorate of Dhofar today held a meeting during which it discussed issues related to domestic development and public services. The meeting stressed the importance of meeting the goals of Oman Vision 2040 and supporting sustainable development through better coordination among government units, the private sector and the local community.
According to Oman News Agency, the meeting was chaired by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, who also serves as Chairman of the Council. Specialists from the Directorate General of Social Development in Dhofar Governorate were present to study plans set by the Ministry of Social Development. These plans prioritize meeting targets of welfare and social protection as outlined in “Oman Vision 2040” and expanding rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities in the wilayats of Dhofar Governorate.
The meeting further explored the outcomes of a visit made to the Directorate General of Public Prosecution by the Social Affairs Committee and the Legal Affairs Committee. The visit aimed to promote legal culture to raise public awareness about the risks associated with the improper use of modern technology.
Additional matters addressed during the Municipal Council’s meeting included the registration of new pupils in ‘Grade 1’ for the School Year 2025-2026, concerns over delays in enrolling eligible children into primary education, and the implementation of road paving projects in the governorate’s wilayats as per plans by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology.
