Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs celebrated today the honoring of the winners in the inaugural edition of the "Fastamsik" Quran Memorization Competition. The ceremony was held under the auspices of Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council.
According to Oman News Agency, the competition was organized under the supervision of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and sponsored by the Sheikh Mustahail Ahmed Al Mashani Private Endowment Foundation. Participants competed in two main branches for males and females across two levels: the first level involved the memorization of the entire Holy Quran along with the interpretation of Surat Al Baqarah, while the second level focused on the memorization of the entire Holy Quran.
The competition aimed to enhance care for the Holy Quran through memorization, recitation, and reflection, while fostering a spirit of honorable faith-based competition. It also sought to honor distinguished memorizers, support Quranic schools, qualify participants for local and international competitions, and highlight the efforts of endowment institutions in serving the Holy Quran.
The event saw broad community engagement with 347 participants, consisting of 176 males and 171 females. The ceremony featured a visual presentation about the competition and the launch of the "Itqan" program for qualifying contestants. At the conclusion of the event, the patron of the ceremony honored the winners.
