BEIRUT: House Speaker Nabih Berri met with Major General Aroldo Lazaro, the UNIFIL Force Commander, at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain El-Tineh to discuss the field developments resulting from Israel’s continued aggression against Lebanon, particularly in the south of the Litani River where UNIFIL operates. The meeting focused on the attacks on the force’s positions and the challenges faced by UNIFIL forces in maintaining their positions amid Israeli targeting.
According to National news agency – Lebanon, Speaker Berri commended the resilience and steadfastness of the UNIFIL forces. He highlighted Israel’s missed opportunities since last September to cease fire, implement UN Resolution 1701, restore calm, and facilitate the return of displaced persons on both sides of the border. Berri provided Major General Lazaro with a detailed overview of an agreement reached with the US Presidential Envoy aimed at ceasing fire and implementing Resolution 1701.

ting Resolution 1701 as the sole option for achieving security and stability in the region. In addition to the meeting with UNIFIL’s Lazaro, Berri engaged with Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Abdallah Bou Habib, discussing the latest political and field developments alongside the issue of displaced persons. He also met with Caretaker Justice Minister, Judge Henri Khoury, to discuss the current general situation and legislative affairs.
