Muscat: The Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing Forum, held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre as part of the “COMEX 2025” exhibition, highlighted the latest advancements in AI and quantum computing, bolstering Oman’s standing in the global digital economy. The event was inaugurated by Eng. Said Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology.
According to Oman News Agency, three national initiatives were launched under the National Program for AI and Advanced Technologies during the forum. The first initiative, the Omani Linguistic Model “Mueen,” is designed to create an advanced linguistic AI model that captures the distinctive features of the Omani language and culture. This project aims to aid government institutions with intelligent linguistic applications and establish a digital knowledge base to serve multiple critical sectors.
The second initiative is the Omani AI Studio, a groundbreaking platform intended to connect specialists with government, private, and academic institutions to devise practical solutions for operational challenges. The studio will also provide specialized consultations, train and equip students in the latest AI fields, and organize workshops and events to increase awareness about the significance of these technologies. Furthermore, it will assist institutions in adopting AI and generating new business opportunities.
The third initiative, the National Open Data Portal, seeks to improve transparency and accountability by making government data available to citizens, researchers, and developers across various fields, including health, education, the economy, and the environment. The portal is designed to offer a user-friendly interactive interface and advanced analysis tools to foster innovation and research projects.
The forum also featured several sessions and papers focused on quantum computing, exploring its “probabilities and risks,” and the future of AI infrastructure. Additionally, a panel discussion was held on the integration between artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
