Muscat: As many as 350 male and female students from government and private schools in South Al Batinah Governorate will contest the final rounds of the Holy Quran memorization competition. The final round of the contest will run until 8 February 2026.
According to Oman News Agency, the competition seeks to raise public awareness about the importance of the Holy Quran and consolidate the Islamic identity, said Badr Salim Al Bakari, Supervisor of the Competition, which is organized by the Ministry of Education.
Al Bakkari pointed out that the competition comprises 6 levels: The Excellence Level, dedicated to all grades, provides for the memorization of 10 parts of the Holy Quran, among them 5 parts should be consecutive; Level One, for grades 11-12, involves the memorization of 5 consecutive parts of the Quran; Level Two, for grades 8-10, requires the competitors to memorize 4 consecutive parts of the Quran; Level Three, for grades 5-7, involves the memorization of 3 consecutive parts of the Quran; Level Four, for grades 3-4, requires the memorization of 2 consecutive parts of the Quran; and, in Level Five, for pupils from early childhood education stage to grade 2, the competitors are required to memorize 1 part of the Quran.
