72-Year-Old Farmer Shares 55 Years of Experience at Madinah Dates Season Exhibition

This year’s Madinah Dates Season exhibition continues to draw large crowds. Visitors are enjoying a variety of activities, including hands-on workshops, farming demonstrations, cooking classes, and virtual reality-simulated date-harvesting.

Agricultural associations and farmers from the region are participating in the exhibition. One notable participant is 72-year-old Talal Abu Ouf, a farmer with over 55 years of experience in date cultivation and processing.

Accompanied by his grandson, who manages a local date factory, Abu Ouf talked to an SPA reporter about his journey in the field, which began in the 1970s. His family has been involved in date farming, marketing, and exporting for generations.

According to Abu Ouf, the Madinah Dates Season exhibition has contributed to the growing demand for dates and higher visibility for the region’s unique varieties, which count 28 types.

The exhibition, near Quba Mosque, will continue until October 16 and is part of the broader Madinah Dates Season.

The event hig
hlights the importance of the palm and date sector, which is a key component of agricultural production, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
